The seaweed is always greener
In somebody else’s lake…

That is what played on repeat in my head as I rode the subway out to Coney Island for the annual (infamous) Mermaid Parade on Saturday. It was an experience to say the least. (more…)

A Sailor’s Life is the Life for Me

What a month it has been! It kicked off with my mom’s birthday party, followed by a visit from Amanda, Joel & Aiden, and wrapped up last week with a trip to Baltimore. It’s been great and I wouldn’t take back any of it, but I am certainly looking forward to a lazy weekend in Brooklyn.

My trust issues run deep and God doesn’t always get the exception He deserves even though He has proved Himself to me time and time again. I just like to be in control of things, even if it leads me to disaster (as it has done more than once). Giving up that right, even to God who I know is infinitely wiser and more capable than I am, isn’t easy. (more…)
